Portfolio of Research done in Partnership with SAFE Water Now, Inc.
Passionate engineering students + a partner NGO with a problem to solve = Innovative solutions that can impact lives
Who Are We?
We are a group of Georgia Tech majoring in various types of engineering such as Industrial and Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Biomedical Engineering. We joined this research group as part of the Vertically Integrated Projects (VIP) Program which offers students the chance to apply their skills to real problems.

The Problem
Our partner organization, Safe Water Now (SWaN) makes ceramic water filters in Arusha, Tanzania. The filters are made by hand out of clay. Before the clay can be fired in a kiln, it has to dry. Currently the filters dry outside and are affected by weather conditions so there is no control over the process and SWaN cannot know when a given filter will be dry.

Our Goal
Our goal is to create a controlled process that can help the filters dry fast no matter what the weather is!
